How to make friends in Jordan?

Put yourself out there! Make online friends! Go to networking events!

Very impractical advice! Although they might be true in practice, but they’re generic, vague, and don’t give real clues on where to begin or what steps to take!

You probably come from a different background or have different preferences, but in general, this is what worked for me:

How to make friends in Jordan?

Sooner or later, you’ll come to realize that there is a void in your life that can only be filled with some good old-fashioned friendship(s)!

I was a socially anxious person up until recently. And so, making friends was never easy for me! I’m sure many feel the same!

Here’re a few tested-by-me methods that actually work:

  • Join a martial arts class. I think this is even better than joining a “gym”. There’s a certain “bonding” that happens with the people in the same class. It’s possible to make friends at the gym as well; especially if you train at the same time/class/with the same trainer!
  • Join a group on Facebook and reach out (and interact with) a person who shares similar beliefs as you. Make sure you get their account vetted before you share anything personal/ go out with them
  • On that note, meet with them in a public place. Also, send your location, and the person’s name/pic to a family member/friend to ensure safety. No, this is not your trust issues talking, this is called “your safety first” always!
  • Work. Whether you own your own business, freelance, or are a full-timer at a corporate job, you’ll meet some people that you’d want to be friends with. And while I’m strongly against mixing your life & work, some colleagues can actually be good friends (even temporarily). With that being said, some work environments are extremely toxic, and it would be utterly gullible of you to assume they’re your friends!
  • Volunteering. And no, I don’t mean the volunteering events some do for publicity. I mean the work you do as an individual to help others cross the bridges you’ve already crossed! That volunteering! I promise you will get to meet some dope people you’d have never met otherwise!
