Shopping for House Supplies: Stock

If you’ve ever run out of Toothpaste, shampoo, tissues, or pads (or tampons), you’ll resonate with this!

I have found “Stocking” to be extremely useful!

When it comes to house supplies, I really don’t like buying them every week (or every month) for that matter. Why?

  1. Supplies are absolutely heavy to buy every week (especially if you don’t have a car or have a friend/ partner with a car).
  2. Buying them separately (2-3 times a month) is more expensive than for e.g. (once every 2 or 3 months).
  3. Trust me, you never want to be short on any of the above items!
  4. For someone who has this feeling of comfort when they have stocks of things (who fail safer with a steady supply of things in general and feel anxious from the shortage of supply), I believe this will really help. It sure helps me! It will give you peace of mind that you have an abundance of everything…

What house supplies can you stock?

  • Tissue paper (I usually get the pack of 12) and lasts for around 3 months
  • Toothpaste: 1 and 1 spare (usually 100 ml) last for two months or more. (I brush 3 times a day)
  • Toothbrush: I usually like to have a spare (but it’s not necessary)
  • Acetone (if you’re obsessed with nail polish)
  • I know this is probably an odd one but I stock “liquid pen eyeliner”! I ran out before this one meeting once and I looked like a zombie! Now I have 2 extras, always!
  • Makeup removal pads
  • Soap (I still use the solid ones, so I always have one spare), if you use the liquid ones, you can have 1 or 2 spares too.
  • Food: depending on your eating style and frequency, just watch out for the expiration dates. You can stock “Corn flakes cereal”, “Long life milk”, “Oats”, “seeds”, “butter”, “cans”, “olive oil”, “cooking Oil”….etc.
  • Cleaning (and clothes washing) supplies
  • Dishwashing sponges.
  • Shampoo & Conditioner.

One of the reasons this blog was created is to help you manage your life (living on your own) by eliminating the time and energy you’d usually put thinking about that little stuff.

I want you to take this time and energy and put it toward yourself! Allocate time to talk to yourself, about what’s bothering her, what makes her happy, and what can she do today to improve.

Finally, I’ve taken the courtesy to introduce some of the places I usually stock from. You can take a few ideas or buy what you need from your favorite store!

I like to Stock from:

  • Safeway “Jubaiha branch”: I like it although it’s small. The staff is kind and the customer service is cool.
  • Carrefour “City mall branch”: I like the atmosphere there. Also, you can literally find every single item you’ll ever need.
  • Al-Salam market: I found that prices are cheaper than in other stores here. It is also located in a complex near “vegetables & fruits” and “poultry” stores. All you need in one place

Enjoy your next “Stocking day”, lady!
