You might be the type who leaves the dishes in the sink to soak for days, forget to take the trash outside (until it stinks), or leaves food in the fridge for weeks, and you’re not very familiar with these:
You get the idea! You’re the messy one! Which’s totally fine if you were living alone, you do you!
Shared living requires a set of “rules” which you can document and post on the kitchen door or your WhatsApp group (if you have one). (I’ll be sharing only the “cleaning” part in this blog, and other rules here!)
This list might include the below:
- Cleaning: dishwasher/ manual dishwashing rules, bathroom cleaning (for shared bathrooms), shared spaces (living room, balcony…etc.)
- Supplies: will your cleaning supplies be separate or will you share? Whose responsibility is to buy them and when?
- Frequency: Once/week for example (you could do a small schedule as well)
- Trash: Will you be putting your trash separately or all in one? And how will that work?
- Bath supplies: your shampoo, conditioner…etc. (We all had that one person that smells exactly like you after a shower; AKA using our shampoo and body wash). Either you put your stuff in your room or be brutally blunt about the No-using-my-shampoo policy!
