Who said you can’t go out alone and have fun?
For introverted people who actually enjoy the company of themselves or the people with no one to go out with (no friends or family), this is for you beautiful lone wolves:
Where to go for fun?
- Shopping: Abdali mall & Boulevard (I love the ambient. They also have some events sometimes), City mall (very friendly atmosphere), Galleria mall, Mecca mall & Avenue mall (Some cheap clothing stores there), Sweifiah village (relatively expensive and gives more of a youngster’s vibes), Saraya mall (for relatively cheap clothes), and Taj mall (One of my favorites. They have free short music events for talented people all the time).
- Downtown: The old signs museum is one thing to see. Shahrazad restaurant for some really good and cheap Arabic food (Kufta with tomato, Kufta with Tahini, barbecue…etc.), fresh juices (sugar can, pomegranate, orange….etc.), you can try on traditional Jordanian clothes and take photos for the time! Ah, I almost forgot! Don’t forget to try the Kunafa from Habibah downtown (ask for extra Qatar: sugar-based syrup; because sometimes the white cheese is a bit salty). The Roman theater is a must-see site as well.
- Rainbow Street: Very colorful street with nice cafes and food trucks (this area is full of expats as well). SOOQ JARA opens there on Fridays as well (a full street allocated only for creative handmade stuff by Arab hands)
- Recreational centers: We have only two, not Disney standards, but nice to go to alone or with friends.
- Al Ma’wa for Nature and Wildlife: This is a place I discovered only 4 months ago. The entrance fee is 5 JD for Jordanians. There is a tour bus and a professional guide. After I came back from my trip there, I wrote them this review: “I was stunned by the astonishing beauty of this place. I mean, the amount of effort they’ve put into this place to make it look and feel comfy and friendly is absolutely admirable! We really enjoyed the tour as well, and our guide Firas Odeibat was kind & professional and walked us through the stories of every animal and how they ended in there!” My advice to you guys is to go in Winter; when you can actually see the animals and enjoy the walk.
- The gym, obviously. There are multiple gyms. My top choice is GYM TIME. The receptionist and the trainers are kind and nice. Very comfortable and “un-judgy” space. However, there is a high level of “moist” and the cleaning has only recently improved. Other than that, it’s the best gym I’ve tried so far. The price is average (120 JD/3 months) for only using the machines and 10 JD/month for using the locker.
- Most Wanted: It’s kinda my safe haven. It’s very relaxing that you get lost looking and “experiencing” the versatile collections of antiques. It’s located in both midtown and Khalda. You can shop here for gifts, mugs, mug coasters….etc.
- Jordan recreational village: Just don’t go anytime between Thursday and Saturday (it will be extra full).
- Other dope places you can go to are Salt (The 60th street: you can see the sunset and eat Kunafa), Jerash (the old city), Ajloun (Burqush forest), Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Petra…etc.
P.S.: If you want some company, you can join a group! There are many budget-friendly options like tourism groups (come with a guide and you travel by bus), and organized trips by other groups or individuals (These are usually a bit more expensive, but less number of people. They do hiking, Wadi Mujib trips…etc.).
For me, my best experiences were with “Montana for Travel & Tourism“. Their trips are very cheap (10-15 JD) for a full-day trip and their organizing is on-point.
If you’ve not done anything to have fun in a while, spoil yourself and go out, please! You deserve it, lady!
