When it comes to shared living, many choices have to be made. One would be a private room or co-sharing; depending on your budget, but mostly on your personality, what you’re used to, and what you can & can’t tolerate (regarding your personal space and habits).
Here are some questions to ask yourself before you choose your room for the next few months or so:
- Can you and do you want to share your room with someone else?
- If yes, are you able to set boundaries/rules and make sure your roommate(s) stick(s) to them? (You know, using your shower stuff, snacks, wearing your clothes…etc.)
- Now, what are you looking for in a room? (mirror, chair, desk, fan, heater, AC, bathroom)
- Do you have any allergies? (Humidity, smoking…etc.)
- Do you prefer sunny rooms (take a room with a window on the East) or you’re a vampire like yours truly here?
- Are you claustrophobic? (You might need a bigger room with a higher)
- Do you need curtains or are the blinds fine?
- Do you need a desk or do you prefer studying/working on the bed/floor?
- Does the room have its own AC/fan/heater?
- Is it isolated or at least, can it be isolated? (This is an important note if you have noise hypersensitivity)
- Is your room’s window against a street or a building?
- Are your windows protected (very important if you were on the ground or the 1st flour)
