11 Things to consider before signing your lease:
- Choose the area carefully. Best to choose a place within walking distance from your work/school (but not necessarily, I chose a place on the main road near the areas I usually work in). Distance is important but it’s not everything. The neighborhood should be a vital pillar in your renting decision. Choose an area that’s near to the fundamentals: water, supermarket, doctors, and transportation (if you don’t have a car).
- The building (new or old), Electricity wiring & wastewater
- The floor you’re renting at
- The building’s guard
- The landlord
- Watch out for the Water and Electricity meters (commercial and residential)
- The noise (both internal and external)
- Type of tenants in the building (families, singles, commercial building)
- Water cut-offs and electricity outages in the area
- Safety
- Apartment’s/studio’s location in the building (beside the escalator/stairs..etc.)
I hope that you can find a place you can call home, lady…
