SAKAN Blog

SAKAN blog WHAT?

SAKAN is the English word for سكن; an Arabic word that means a place of living or residence. It also means peace and comfort; hence the name.

SAKAN blog exists WHY?

I created SAKAN blog to be the ultimate manual for women who intend to move out to live alone/with housemates; temporarily or permanently! Or had to move out (unfit environment, divorce, and other reasons).

SAKAN blog is everything I wished I would’ve known before I moved out to live on my own!

SAKAN blog highlights almost all the challenges women face and might face living alone/with flatmates and how to deal with them.

The language used in SAKAN blog is “raw”, “direct”, & “honest”. Sometimes, it might take the form of a story; all from my own personal experiences living in Jordan.

The blog also tackles some of what you might call “controversial topics”; AKA challenges that actually exist in society and people just avoid talking about them because they’re either afraid or just don’t have enough information or awareness. I realize that change management (& mass social impact) for an entire society is a journey, and I’m excited (and committed) to this long ride!

SAKAN blog helps HOW?

SAKAN blog’s objective is to “normalize” talking about the topics of “women living alone”, “females moving out of their parent’s house for whatever reason”, and “moving out temporarily for study/work” or temporarily.

Specifically, this is SAKAN blog’s mission:
  1.  Acknowledge the real issues with the “living-alone situation” for females and give real practical solutions
  2. As well as generate awareness & provide the necessary tools in order to avoid these issues beforehand.
  3. Giving women some peace of mind; that they’re not alone in this and that what they go through is totally normal and ok (from society’s judgment to their own mental health struggles!)

SAKAN blog speaks how many LANGUAGES?

At this very moment, SAKAN is bilingual (English & Arabic). In the near future, she will be available in other languages as well!
